After several months I finally finished my latest oil painting, Holding Pattern. I wanted to imagine the figures on a chess board dancing freely, unchained from their rules. This painting involves a break from my usual style of leaving faces non-descript.
I have since started a new oil that simply portrays a large, melancholic female figure in the foreground and a small, open window in the background – a recurrent motif in my paintings.
